Description
The City of Independence was looking to extend the library’s mission and create an environment where residents can access vital services, engage in lifelong learning, and enjoy cultural and recreational activities. In 2024, the Flexible Facilities Program Grant allowed Independence to realize its goal. To serve as a hub for essential services, the Independence Library and Community Learning Center integrates the library, youth center, community room, food pantry/teaching kitchen. This project represents a significant step towards building a more equitable, connected, and vibrant community. High-quality, reliable broadband internet will ensure modern infrastructure for all. The ICLC will provide comprehensive services and facilities to enable health monitoring, educational support, food security, workforce development, and digital access to address critical community needs.
